Life's a beach...

One week ago today we celebrated Delaney's golden birthday! She turned 4 on the 4th, and we held her party at Shawnee Mission Park beach. No one ever told me August was so stinkin' hot in Kansas, I guess I should have known for myself having been living here for all 26 years of my life. Well needless to say it was a scortcher with a heat index of around 104. Even the water in the lake felt warm like a bath. So there wasn't much relief from the hot rays of the sun, but the kids didn't seem to mind a bit, in fact some of the kids who normally don't like to swim were diving in right in like it was no big deal...probably because it was as warm as their evening bath water! Delaney was showered with gifts and goodies of all kinds. She absolutley loved it! She was very thankful afterwards, on the ride home she said Thank you mommy and daddy for everything, I loved my beach party! That was enough for me. Having her turn four and watching her grow from a toddler to a little girl has been kinda rough, but having her show gratitude and appreciation was all worth it. As she's growing she realizes that people have feelings and it's nice to be polite!!! Who'd a thought? Life goes quickly, my kids remind me of that every day! Thanks to everyone who came out and sweated it out with us! =)
