Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!!!!

Our adventure begins at a small family owned Christmas Tree farm in Western Shawnee. We meet up with Kurt, Candie and Cadence Dearing for our annual round up! Each year usually ends with the same mean comments from Kurt, making fun of our little Charlie Brown tree! Here we are as a famiy of four on a trailor ride through the forest of trees, scoping out the best of the best of the little pines!

Garrett was in awe mostly of the tractor pulling us around the farm, he just stared at it like it was going to start doing tricks or something!

Finally we rounded the end of our tour-of-trees. And the real hunt was to begin!

Delaney was off and running...The whole time yelling "I get to pick it, I get to pick it!" So begins the real story of our little tree! When you're little a little tree doesn't really look that little to you~ So as Delaney ran around in and out of the rows she kept temporarily choosing the little ones! I had no problem with that, both price wise and size wise. We didn't want to spend a fortune on a tree that is ultimately going to loose it's needles on my carpet and be thrown out the back door January 2nd! Also, we have to re-arrange our living room every Christmas to make space for our "Charlie Tree."
So when Delaney finally chose our WINNER, we were happy! Growing up my family always had a small tree, and we always cut it down ourselves just across the street from our house on a tree farm. So there is definate sentimental value with our choice. Sure this tree will have pokier brances, it is small, but it's straight and it's symmetrical, and it's OURS! That's all that matters. So we propped up Garrett, Delaney and Cadence for a quick photo-op, before the boys cut her down!

Delaney and Garrett were proud of their findings! Let the real fun begin!

We went back to the barn for a cup of Hot Coco, and to warm up a little while they loaded the tree to the top of our Jeep! And it was time to head back to the house to let the tree sit out for a day and give the branches time to drop, so the kids could decorate!

I'll post pictures of the finished tree in a couple of days! Jason and I did the lights, I did the star, and the kids hung all of the ornaments all by themselves! Now see, if we'd a had a big tree, they couldn't have done that! Cause they wouldn't have been able to reach!

Putting our tree up is always an exciting time, it's sad that I never have the enthusiasm when it comes time to take it down!
Oh well! Merry Christmas everyone! Hope the Holiday season finds you happy and healthy!
