This year my family is sponsoring another family for Christmas. We don't have a lot of money, and our kids are by no means getting "EVERYTHING" they want for Christmas. But we know that there are so-o many families out there that cannot afford a good Christmas, or even to make bills on time. So this year we've adopted a family that needs some help. It feels good to know that I am helping a child continue to believe in miracles and Santa! Santa comes in all shapes and sizes, but this year I look a little more like him than last...since the babies just growing away inside my belly! =) Also I remember when I was younger and my mom didn't work, my dad would be laid off and we would have Christmas. I never remember a bad Christmas! We never got things brand new, they were usually bought from friends or a pawn shop, but we didn't care. I remember my mom wearing the same holey socks and worn out shoes just so we could have a good Christmas. There were times that my mom had to put her pride aside and ask for help from local organizations to get us a good Christmas. As an adult I realize that a "good" Christmas isn't about what is under the tree. It's about what's in your heart. It's about giving not receiving. I encourage all of you who are able to give a little more this year! Whether it's some spare change in the Salvation Army buckets, or blood at a blood drive, or a meal to someone who needs it. And if you are one who needs help during the holidays, don't be ashamed to ask for it.
In the end remember the true spirit of Christmas! =)
