My dad was in a motorcycle accident on Sunday at around 3:30pm. Jason and Dad went riding all day from about 9am-3pm. They had a great time and it was just the two of them. Great memories!
Or so we thought...
Funny how bad always seems to come with the good...
I got a call from Aric at about 7pm. He said "Dad laid the bike down I'm going to pick him up from the hospital" I totally called Aric a liar and he said, "I'm serious Royal, Mom is with me we are on our way to Overland Park Regional."
Seriously??? The same hospital Aric was taken to when he had his motorcycle wreck. I was about to vomit. Jason and the kids and I were already in the car, so we headed to the hospital to help pick up dad.
He had actually been released hours earlier but only had the home phone and Grandma's home phone number memorized and everyone was at Uncle Rodneys for a BBQ and so he was stuck at the hospital for about 3 hours.
He has 3 broken ribs, severe burns with blisters on both hands and arms from the extremely hot asphalt. 8 stitches in his top lip, a black eye and severe road rash.
The bike got picked up by Jason from the tow lot yesterday and it's probably gonna get totaled by the insurance company.
A bike can be replaced...a dad, not so much.
Turns out a lady that my parents know is the one who hit him. She didn't see him and she pulled out off of 62nd Street onto Quivira and T-boned my dad. He was literally under her car.
Such a scary situation. I am thankful to have him. In pain, but alive at this point.
As for in the near future....I won't be out on my bike for a while. I'm just too nervous with all of this happening.

So glad Pops is okay! I am however not sad to hear that you are gonna stay off the bike for a while. I guess it can happen anywhere at anytime, but people just do NOT watch out for motorcycles!! My Dad has been hit twice in the past 15 years. Thank God for their Angels!! Love you all!! Call if you need anything!!
