What an amazing adventure! We started our drive on Monday, March 12 at 7:30am! We headed East towards Missouri. We stopped for breakfast in Columbia, MO at Hardee's. Then we continued on until we reached the Arch! We toured the arch, went potty, bought tickets and waited our turn to go to the top! We road in tram number 8 all the way to the top of the arch to view the world below! It was a fun 4 minute ride up and a faster 3 minute ride down! We had never been to the top of the arch before! It was quite a site!
We were there for about 2 hours then we headed East again, this time towards Illinois, since it was right on the other side of the arch! We got through Illinois, and hit Kentucky. We had to stop for another potty break so we stopped at, where else, but a Harley Davidson...Four rivers HD, so Jason could get a shirt at the same time! We were there around 6 right as they were closing up. Jason got his shirt we took some pictures and pottied, and we were back on the road again!
Next stop, Nashville, TN! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I seriously asked Jason if we could live there! LOL It was so nice outside a lot of bars had their doors and windows open so the live music rushed through your veins! We took lots of pictures and potty breaks then we went to dinner. We had Shoney's of all places, but the kids LOVED It! We decided not to get a hotel just for a few hours and Jason felt he could keep driving so we continued unti the far side of Knoxville. We had had enough so we pulled into a truck stop as it started to rain and slept it out in the parking lot for four hours. I woke up needing to pee, so I took Lucy in with me, when I came out Jason had the Tahoe running and was ready to get going again!
Down the road we went driving the winding mountain roads of East Tennessee and North Carolina! Finally we hit South Carolina and were feeling so excited to get to the beach! We arrived in Myrtle Beach around 1 and got to our condo at 2pm and went ahead and checked in an hour early!
The condo was so nice! Two queen size beds, two balconies, three sliding glass doors, one balcony was facing the ocean and one was over the parking lot! We had a kitchen, washer and dryer and a pull out sofa in the living room! Since Lucy's used to her big girl bed at home we gave her one queen bed and we took the other, Garrett and Delaney slept on the pull out and loved that they had a TV and the ocean right outside their bed!
We unloaded all of our crap, threw on our swim suits, grabbed our sand toys and made our way down the elevator, through the indoor pool, and down the sand to the OCEAN! My kids were in awe! They loved the warm sand, the sea shells, the COLD water! We took pictures, common theme here, and built sand castles. We played for about 2 hours then headed back to clean up and go to dinner! We had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe-Pyramid! Great food, cool music stuff and great staff!
We finished dinner and did some shopping, at yet another Harley Davidson! 2 of 3 we stopped at! Jason got a shirt and the kids and I, you guessed it, took picturs! We found some really friendly ducks and saw the sights. After some time at Broadway on the Beach we cruised Ocean Blvd. for a while, then it was time to head back. Jason and Lucy stayed in the condo for early bed while I took D & G to the indoor pool! It was great! Super warm water, lazy river, lap pool and indoor water park features, oh an my favorite...a hot tub! I relaxed in the hot tub while the kids played for a long time! Finally it was time to go back up and call it a night!
Day 2 at Myrtle beach was packed full of fun! We stared our day at the beach, collecting sea shells and sunshine! When we were done there we cleaned up and took the kids to Ripley's Mirror Maze. After that we rode the sky wheel over looking the ocean. Garrett wasn't too sure about it, but once we were up in the wheel, he thought he might want to go again! LOL
After the sky wheel we had lunch at Chili's and went to do some shopping at the outlet mall, visiting our final HD store! Then headed to Ripley's Aquarium! We saw two dive shows, touched horse shoe crabs, sting rays and saw lots of sharks, jelly fish and colorful fish! We had SO MUCH FUN at the aquarium, it was for sure the best bang for our buck! We were there for over 3 hours! After that it was late so we went home for the night and did some more pool fun, until it was time for bed!
Day 3 we awoke and had pancakes and bacon in the condo for breakfast and decided to play at the pool, inside and out so I could get some sun, then we decided to head out to the car show! We walked around one of the biggest car shows I've ever been to! Great weahter once again! So thankful! We walked and walked and took some more pictures, then it was time to hit up Wonderworks! We got our tickets, went potty and the fun began! We played with so many cool things...these are just a few:
Wind Tunnel
Google Earth
Titanic Water Temperature
360 Bike
Four Wheeler
Rope pully pull
Squeeze Grip
Keyboard
Bubble Room
Space Ship
Astronaut
3 story rope maze
Games
Bed of Nails
The list goes on and on and on!!!
We stayed at Wonderworks until about 4 then headed back to the condo to watch the classic car cruise down Ocean Blvd at 5! It lasted all night! TONS of cool cars it was like being thrown back in time! So cool!!! We ordered a pizza and had it delivered to our room for our final night. At almost dark we took all three kids back out the ocean for the last time. I was teary eyed as we ran (yes I ran with the kids) down the beach! I still couldn't believe we had come so far, we actually made it and everyone loved it SO MUCH! We got back to our condo and packed everything up and loaded the car with all that we could and finally it was bed time. We had to be up at 4am and on the road by 4:30!
We all went to bed and awoke bright and early for showers and to pack the cooler and the last of the clothes! We were on the road by 4:30am! Sadly we said good-bye to Myrtle beach...until next time! We began our journey home! Seven states in reverse order! We stopped for lunch in Nashville and visited Antique Archeaology...then we only stopped for fuel and potty breaks until dinner. For dinner we stopped this side of St. Louis at Lone Star Steakhouse. I finished the last 4 hours of the drive and we arrived home at 1:23am! I was ready to be home, but I'd do that drive all over again!!!
What a trip, and I am still so impressed with the fact that Lucy had ZERO accidents all the way there and all the way back. All three kids were so good, so well behaved, and so darn polite! I was one proud momma, and I kept telling them that! We're already planning our next spring break!
Thanks for the memories Myrtle Beach and everytihng in between!!!!
