Okay, so let me start this blog at the beginning! We've lived in our house for 6 and 1/2 years. We redid our basement a while back. Soon after we had the great flood in our basement and there was water EVERYWHERE!!! We had Never had water before but of coarse since we had brand new berber carpet, fresh paint on the walls and a great hang out place we had to have an issue...that's just how we roll.
Well needless to say we spend a majority of our spare time in the basement now. It's dry (thanks to Bruce and Jeremy Dickerson...) but it's cold....this brings me to part two of this story...
So it's always about ten degrees colder in our basement than the rest of the house. So we rely on space heaters for added comfort. Well yesterday after a GREAT trip with just the four of us to Weston, MO (I'll blog about that later), my husband decided it would be a good idea to go "look" at gas logs for our fire place down stairs. Well after our third stop to "look" he walked out with a huge box...so much for looking...should of known. So we go home I put the kids in the tub for a bath and he is down stairs. The kids get done with bath time and he's still down stairs....So I go check on him...There's a problem...NO GAS! You can't exactly have a Gas fireplace without gas. So he starts looking for the gas line to see if he can find the shut off valve. Well the only way to get to the gas line is through the wall and/or ceiling. So he starts with the wall, one small hole, no big deal....OH WAIT there is a BIG DEAL!!! When he makes this hole we can see all the way through to concrete!!!! What does this mean? No insulation, our basement is colder because there is no insulation....GGGRRRRR!!!!
Part 3:
Well 3 holes in one wall and one hole in the ceiling later and we found the gas problem, the line is no longer hooked up to the main. So we have to pressure test the line and make sure there are no leaks, then turn the gas off at the main while the line gets hooked back up, then maybe, just maybe we'll have success!!!!
I'll keep you posted!
Did I mention I hate being a home owner...

OMG!!! Roy, make Jason call Kurt!! He can help!! he's GREAT at patching walls...remember he did fall through the ceiling two years ago!! :) We are having the same problem....I love our new toy room, but it's a bit chilly. Kurt thinks they didn't insulate either!! Maybe we should just buy blankets and cuddle.....YUCK!! :) It will get worked out!!
Now tell us about this trip to Weston....I'm jealous!! :)
