A Sunday Drive To Weston MO!

So our morning started out with an itch to do something. Jason had spent the entire Saturday working on three different cars for people. And to be honest I was a bit tired of being parts runner, test driver (even if it was a Mustang GT Convertable) and babysitter while he made all the money! Wait I take that back, the last lady to pick up her car gave me a $20.00 bill for running last minute across town to 103rd and State line to get a much needed part so she could make it to Wichita on time! I saved her day and got money for it! Now Jason did say I was the fastest parts driver in town! ;) So anyway back to Sunday. I told Jason I wanted to just load the kids up and drive! Of coarse his response was to where? Do we really have to have a destination??? So we got ready did some quick chores around the house...cause you know that stuff wouldn't be there when we got back!
Off we went down K-7 towards Leavenworth, when we got to I-70 I said we can go towards Topeka, KCMO, or Straight towards Lansing, he chose straight and the adventure began. It was about 11:30am.
We drove down and looked at the prison, its really a beautiful building, drove around and looked at some old homes. Then we continued down K-7 until you couldn't go straight anymore. So this time I chose and I chose Right! So towards Beverly we went. Now we are in Missouri, I didn't realize Leavenworth was so close to MO...Anyway through the winding country roads we went and the kids seemed to be having a good time. As long as they can keep hearing "Johnny and June" over and over again they're happy! :) That will drive you nuts after a while. But I have to say it was cute hearing both of them sing the words!!! As we popped out of Beverly...Wow that sounds wierd, sorry. I saw a sign that said Weston 4 miles. So that was it, I now had a destination.
We arrived safely in Weston around 12:15, lunch time. So we chose to stop and eat at the Weston Cafe! It was delicious!!! The staff was friendly and welcoming and all of the pictures on the walls were of motorcycles and people on thier motorcycles in front of the cafe! So we were a perfect fit. (Jason wants to ride down there this spring!) We had a great lunch and then Jason got a slice of caramel cake...WOW! We decided that yes it's only 27 degrees but we are here lets shop.
So we bundled up the kids and let them run ahead of us on the sidewalk to release the energy from the drive down! Some shops were closed but most of them were open and inviting! We visited most of the open ones, and the kids listened and did a great job of not touching! I was proud of them, I had told them before we went in for lunch that we were visitors to this town and we needed to be polite. So of course in one store the lady told Delaney she could pick up the doll and look at it, and her response was oh no, I'm just a visitor...kids!
My favorite stop was the candle shop! We got a candle....well 12 really, but one in particular that was Jason's favorite and I have to admit I liked it too, it's Raw Hide scented, so it smells like leather! Cool huh? Delaney and Garrett each got to pick two for thier rooms, just to have to smell, not light...obviously. Garrett has always had a passion for smelling candles!!! So this place was heaven for him, Jason walked him around the store, I kid you not, like three times letting him smell each one. We finished there and looked around at a couple of other shops then it was back into the truck to head towards home. It was 3:00 by this point and the kids were tuckered out! We will be back though on a 2nd Saturday of the month...that's when things are really hopping in Weston!!! =)

Love,
Royal

God I love Weston too. Maybe we should all go (us, you, the dearings) However lets not do guys against girls... We might end up in the river! LOL! Anyway my Jason took me there on our anniversary 2007. There are a lot of really cool bed and breakfasts out there. VERY FUN! BTW Ana used to be that way about Jackson by Johnny and June.
