Strep...

Poor Delaney...
She's had a sore throat for about a week. I too have had a sore throat for a week. The weather's changing, we've been sleeping with the windows open. I just figured it was drainage like I was having.

Well the sore throat went from bad to worse. By last night she was telling me every 3 minutes that her throat hurt. She was having a hard time finishing her dinner. So I just decided to stop eating dinner and I took her to Physicians Now and had her looked at.

The good news...it hasn't been strep the whole time. It just manifested into that recently. The rapid test (#1) came back as negative. Poor Delaney did not like having the back of her throat scraped. She was crying and scared. I kept telling her they needed a good sample to know if it was strep. And if they got a good sample she'd feel better with medicine! They could tell her throat was red and there were bumps forming in the back (I know this look all to well) so they did the test one more time and it barely came back as a positive. But it was POSITIVE, so she was able to prescribe her an antibiotic. So we left and went next door to the Price Chopper pharmacy and had it filled.

We went home she had some jell-o and some pudding for dinner. I gave her her first dose of the meds and she went to bed early around 8:15. This morning she said it only hurt a little whens he swallowed, so I'm hoping we caught it really early before it got to be really bad and more painful!

She really didn't want to miss school. She has never missed a day of school. Not in Kindergarten or first grade. She's the only kid in her class that's done that! I told her she could go if she felt ok. She ate her breakfast as normal, never complained of any pain and she went to school. She'd been on meds for 12 hours, I know they say 24, but hell she caught it at school anyway...so it's already there!

I just hope I don't get it! If I do, I want it now and not later when we're in Branson! (One month from today!)
